I actually loved working at House of Fabrics. The hours weren't
show/hide quoted text
wonderful, but that was a different story. <G> The actual job was great.
Since I worked with fabric and saw all of it everyday I didn't "have" to
buy some of all the wonderful stuff that came in. Very early I realized
that unless I really had a plan, however far off, for it I could look at
show/hide quoted text
and fondle all I wanted, without having to buy it. <G> (Remnants were a
whole different thing. Since our manager gave us 70% off on remnants and
he would often decide that really small bolts, even over a yard, were

remnants, those often came home. <VBG>)
Keeping up on new products and seeing the new items come into the store
was fun.
Being able to assist customers was wonderful. When I worked a closing
shift, instead of my usual opening shift I would frequently come in and
have people waiting to ask for help and so on. They were great. Giving
people ideas and alternatives for problems was fun.
I miss the job itself. (And it wasn't nearly as much fun after Jo-Ann's
bought out House of Fabrics. sigh.)
