I know several of you have seen Ricky Tims. This past weekend, my guild was
the hosting guild for his Super Seminar, which included Alex Anderson, Libby
Lehman & a talk from Bob Purcell of Superior Threads. I actually started
planning this event 2 years ago. I knew who Ricky was & I had even seen him
on Simply Quilts a few years ago. I never, in a million years could have
anticipated how fantastic this three day event would be. He is truly a
gifted teacher, speaker, pianist, story teller, etc. Over 500 people
attended this event & throughout the weekend, people came up to me & thanked
me for bringing him to the San Francisco Bay Area. If you ever have the
opportunity to attend his seminar or hear him speak or take a class from
him, I strongly encourage you to do so. I promise you, it will leave a
lasting impression on you & you'll never regret it. He taught so many
innovative techniques & Friday night, he played the piano for us & told
stories. It was a fun filled three days, with lots of great information.
He is such an inspiration - I can't speak highly enough of him. (Prior to
attending this event, I was pretty much ho-hum about it. I've changed my
tune 360 degrees!)

I don't know how anyone could attend one of his seminars and not come out
wholly enthusiastic about tackling any project...big or small.
Don't you feel like he's now one of your best friends? Not many people can
lecture to a crowd with the warmth and humor that he does.
I've not attended the whole seminar, but I've taken classes and gone to his
story telling piano concert in Paducah a couple times. He's just wonderful.

I was thrilled to bits to see that he is coming to our largest quilt
show in the summer - Festival of Quilts in Birmingham. I spoke to him
when I went to Paducah in '04, but now I might be able to take a class.
I will try to book the minute the lists are published.

Patti,
Don't hesitate to sign up for his class. You will feel so inspired. When
the class is over, you'll feel like you have acquired a new forever friend -
no kidding. You probably saw him in Paducah the same year I did - he was
with his dad selling his hand dyed fabrics & his book. I cannot speak
highly enough about him - no matter what type of quilting you enjoy - you
will learn something new for him that you will apply to your projects
forever.
