After an all day marathon quilting blitz, the Shaker Quilt is
finished. Here is a picture of it hanging for photographic purposes.
An interesting sidebar is the the display element. I ripped out a long
2" x2" x 8' of Cherry that I had in the basement and affixed some
cheap clamps that came with some drapery rod hardware that I never
used. I saved them for "someday" and today, someday came in the form
of a need. They are spaced along one edge and more closely at the ends
of the board to accommodate the variations in quilt size. I clamped
the quilt to the board and hung it from the top of some door moulding
in the Dinning Room. When not in use it resides in the Attic, of your
Worst Dreams, with all the out of date Hi-Fi equipment and other, to
good to throw away stuff. I never liked laying the quilts down on the
floor because you get a distorted perspective.
Anyway, the dimensions are: 72" x 72". It was a fun project and
caused me to be especially careful in assembly. All the points were
forced to meet at precise angles, as that is the sort of thing that
the Shakers excelled at. It is probably the most perfectly made quilt
from that perspective that I have ever done. I had to reset one of the
points as I didn't like the fact that it did not quite match up.
Mother Ann, the founder of the Shakers, would be very displeased if
She looked down and saw that flub. So to keep her from coming down and
scolding me, I corrected the flaw and now it is as you see it. As
nearly perfect as I could make it.

Enjoy,

That's just beautiful! Can't see any flubs (because there aren't any),
and the colors show up much better in this photo. OK, you get to put
that galloping horse out to pasture.

Now go clean your attic, John dear, because Mother Ann would want you
to.
