This is a new one on me- I haven't quite got used to the idea of bamboo
batting and here comes soy batting. But it was talked about on another
quilting group and here's the quote-
I know someone who used it and loved it - until they had to wash the
piece it was in. It lumped and bumped and generally behaved very
badly. I don't know what brand she used, though. Kris
I'd think twice before using soy batting.

It was on a Yahoo group called 'Quilt Teach" which is for quilting teachers
to exchange ideas, etc.

I guess it depends, right? Maybe it should have been quilted closer,
maybe it is not washable, maybe whatever ... Or maybe it was indeed a
bad batting. Could also be that whoever is making it doesn't know about
using scrims etc (but why they would produce and sell batting without
researching this kind of stuff, I don't know).
Of course, I probably wouldn't use something not washable in any case.
I think this is really a stark warning to carefully check out any
batting _new to you_ before using it in a big project (big as in
important, time consuming, or whatever else you care about).
I do feel very sorry for your friend - that must just be horrible to see
a quilt be ruined like that.
