What are you working on?

Currently on my list:

1) just finished a baby quilt & pillow set
2) working on blocks for mini-swap (3" finished) - have 10 done... need 10
more... and then need 20
siggie blocks (also 3")
3) need to start (and finish) a wedding quilt - doing DWR in blues with white
background. Wedding
is Aug 6 -- need to have to my long arm quilter (who does SUPERB work) by early
June!
4) I'm teaching my first quilt class ever in May -- paper piecing -- and I'm
working on a number of
little small projects to display in the shop (need to get those up ASAP) to
promote the class.
5) have an OSU buckeye wallhanging to do for my cousin. I am actually an OSU
alum - he isn't but
is a die hard fan. Since I moved to Michigan and DH started working for "that
other school" -- he
razzes me all year -- but especially in football season. The wallhanging will
have Scarlet and Gray
piecing -- but the quilting will have hidden in it -- GO BLUE... and other
similar content!

that's it... that's enough!!

Now -- what are you working on?

Working-on working on? Or, what's in your sewing room glaring at you while
you try to avoid it?

I'm currently working on a Jar quilt. This is done as a sample to show my
Block Party particpants, but is for me and will hang in my kitchen above the
door to the pantry. (Thanks to all for your suggestions!)

I just finished an Easter postcard for my mom, and I wish I'd remembered to
scan it before mailing!

Giles' quilt is sitting on the machine, pouting because I keep ignoring it.

And I'm sure I'm going to lose the pieces I've cut for my very own bed quilt
before I start working on it.

Still collecting for a couch quilt, and waiting for ... I dunno what... to
start a sick kids' quilt. You know, to snuggle under when a kid is sick -
highly washable, and brightly colored.

"Sick Kids Quilt"... have you seen the pattern Pick Up Stick... I've seen that
in brights -- looks
very fun! Not sure how difficult it is to piece.... but would be a "feel
better" quilt!

That is an interesting pattern. I'm not much for patterns, tho. I'd rather
make it up as I go... I have a fabric that has big blocks of bright chickens
that I'm going to pair with other fun fabrics. I'll call it a chicken soup
quilt. :-)

I'm still working on a 30s repro BOM from my LQS, and a black and
brights whirligig for one of my nieces, but neither of these projects is
pressing. I've been teaching a friend to quilt, it's kinda fun being
the teacher for a change.

I've absolutely fallen in love with a quilt I found last night in
quilterscache.com It's the Storm at Sea pieced. On the bottom of page
3 in the directions are a few links to finished quilts using this
pattern. Look at the very last one. It is a SOS done in purples that
has a cross in it. Stunning! I never realized that by accentuating
certain colors, that a crucifix would appear. I think that this pattern
would be a real stretch for me, but I now have a new obsession. I think
it would be incredible in batiks. If so inclined, please look it up and
tell me if you think an advanced beginner could do it. Are these SOS
blocks as hard to do as they look?

Denise
