Now it's my turn to help with a hug quilt. I've been provided with a 10"
white square of fabric that I have been instructed to "decorate" with a
"Candy" theme.

Any suggestions? All my brain can think of right at the moment is a candy
cane and I'm sure that will be what others will think of too. So, I would
like something a little different.

TIA,
Donna in SW Idaho

How about Lifesavers or a couple of big M&Ms or candy corn or chocolate
kisses? I'm also thinking that several years ago someone had a quilt that
had a hand-wrapped caramel appliqued on it, but that could have just been a
dream.

So what's your favorite candy? Use that (chocolate truffles? M&Ms?
almond brittle? turkish delight?)

That was my first thought too - (KISS, Stick to what you know, yadda,
yadda...)
Then it occured to me that there's always some kind of candy themed
novelty prints at the LQSs. Some may be suitable to cut out &
applique/trapuntize... Or applique something from scratch/scraps.
Got any candylike decorative stitches on your SM? Sometimes fiddling
with the settings (width, length, density, etc.) on a stitch can make
it look like something entirely different - one may pass for some kind
of candy. Embroidery designs/FME? Change the thread colors to
browns, and you've got a chocolate... whatever. I guess that's all I
got fer now...

If you really want to go crazy with appliqué... Do a Gingerbread house...
there are lots of them around this time of year. Grab a picture... and
between fusible appliqué, specialty stitches and embellishing... you could
have a lot of fun!
