Tia Mary sent me some photos of a gorgeous jacket. Absolutely gorgeous.
Hmm ... shall I share them, or shall I just drool over them all by
myself? ;) Oh, okay -- here's the link:

Thanks for posting the photos and thanks for the lovely compliment.
I will have to say that it would be difficult to make something that
wasn't gorgeous when using those fabrics. VBS -- I love several of the
fabrics but am really taken with the one with the Phoenix Bird I used
for the lapel. That is all hand stitched in silk & gold & silver
threads -- absolutely stunning. Best part is that the piece I bought
was about 7" wide and about 3 yards long, from an uchikake which is a
wedding garment worn over a formal kimono and is very, very long. Thank
heavens I didn't have to cut through that lovely embroidery! The one
piece was long enough that I got the embroidered section for the right
lapel and then two additional plain pieces for the facing :-).
You don't even want to know how many other pieces of kimono fabric I
now have in my stash. I WILL make myself a large display quilt from all
the ones that are heavily embroidered. Once I return home from the trip
to the cabin, I will post and let everyone who is interested know that I
will be sending my leftover silk scraps to whomever wants them. I have
a nice bag full and they would be lovely for appliqué or crazy quilts,
