I seem to be having a problem keeping up with all my online friends! Of
course, trying to get all my winter projects ready to head south, do my
Christmas shopping, to be delivered before we leave, helping friends with
quilting projects, and then taking on two more projects for my guild have
nothing to do with it!

One of the members of my guild has promised 100 fabric postcards with an
ovarian cancer theme (in Canada it is the sunflower). They will be mailed
to patients in our area. She is looking for some help, and of course, I
said I'd make a few for her before I left. I've never made any fabric
postcards, but my guild meeting last night, was mini-workshops on "fabric
postcards".
Sorry if I haven't been keeping up to date on all the happenings at RCTQ. I
have been reading as many posts as possible, so healing thoughts go out to
those who need them, happy wishes to those celebrating etc.
I hope to get back to my normal schedule when we get settled in Florida at
the beginning of November!

Susan, unless you're going to be stranded on an island off the coast of
Florida - well, not even that - my sister lives on one of those - it is
really possible, easy even, to ship packages from Florida. Anything you can
pound into one of those priority boxes goes at a decent rate and UPS and
FedEx are just about everywhere. Why are you thinking that must be done
before you leave? Polly

Shipping between Canada and US can be expensive, and even when sending
gifts, you have to be careful because of duty and tax charges.
Canada Post can be expensive as well - it cost $1.03 to mail a letter to the
US. Last year we sent 25 candies to our Godson for his advent calendar and
it cost over $8 for the tiny package - more than the cost of the treats!
When we lived in Florida full-time, I finally just sent gift cards or
cheques as gifts, as the shipping costs were more than the value of the
gifts sent!
Since I try to make a little something for everyone on my list, I like to
get it done before we head south. We get to visit with all our family
members, and deliver parcels EXTRA early at the same time!
When I am home, I only mail-order from CDN locations, except for Connecting
Threads, which ships from Windsor ON, and take care of any duty/tax owing.
