Because of Teddy's (Great Pyrenees/Old English Sheepdog) VERY large size,
it's going to cost a small fortune to have him professionally groomed every
month. It looks like I'm going to be keeping him shaved- I have never done
this before. I want to keep him in something similar to a puppy cut for
poodles. Does anybody here know anything about electric canine
clippers/shavers? Any brands to watch out for? Any considerations in what
is best yet reasonably priced? What accessories will I need? Help!

I don't know about clippers, but I know a great product for removing that
extra undercoat that sheds. I heard about it from someone on the yahoo group
WeFixIt (about fixing sewing machines, pets, the world in general...we talk
about a lot of different things there!). I did a little web research then
bought one, and it works great! It's called the "FURminator".

Good luck on the search for clippers!

Dragonfly
with a big long-haired dog that SHEDS, but is shedding less and less as I
gradually get most of the undercoat out with the new FURminator!

My goldens don't need haircuts but I got a furminator after my sis
did a demo on her cat. Wow are those things wonderful. I have
one for the cats and one for the dogs. I think the cat one might
have been ok for both though. Sounds like John could sell clippers
along side all the Bernina machines he could sell. LOL
It is a great way to save money though. Hey John, have we ever seen
the airedales?

By popular demand, (well Taria at least), here is the only picture of
Maggie, the happy-go licky Airdale Terrier that I currently have on my
computer. The other Airedale, (Stilton) has gone to the great kennel
in the sky about 11 years ago and that passing is what prompted the
arrival of Maggie. Enjoy.
