I've just finished piecing the second of 2 single bed quilts for my 2
grandsons. Been a while since I've been patching so out of date.
Now I need to get the batting and get on with finishing them and I can't
make up my mind which batting to use. Will be machine quilting.
The boys are both almost 8 (lots of washing), they live in Townsville, Qld
(Oz tropical zone for those who don't quite know where it is) but the
winters still get a bit cold for those up there who's blood has

climatized/thinned<grin>.
I have access to the Matilda's Own brand. I don't know whether to go with
the O-Sew-Soft 100% poly or the Cotton/Poly blend. Not sure about using the
wool/blend because of the issues with skin problems and lanolin in the
families. I haven't used either one of those and don't know how they stand
up to wear.
Can sks advise me which would be their choice of batting, please?

I would use the cotton/poly blend rather than the 100% poly. It will be
more comfortable to sleep under year round. It will also be easier to
quilt because the cotton has a tendency to cling a bit to the cotton
fabric in your top and backing. The 100% poly batting would slip more
than the cotton during the quilting process.

Wendy, I asked "Recommend a batt" on July 17 here. There were lots of very
helpful thoughts. Do you know how to track back to that post? Polly

Thank you Julia for that, yes I can see that the cotton blend would be a
better choice seeing as I'll be machine quilting.......Wendy
