I recently made a brightly colored baby quilt with buterflies in the
middle of neon colored churn dashes. I decided to give it to a little
guy from my church who just came home from the hospital, first time
since his birth 7 months ago. I brought it with me to church this
morning to give to his grandmother, our pianist, but just before the
service started, in walked the parents with the tiniest little boy. At
7 months he is just under 10 pounds, the size of a newborn, but because
of his age, he holds his head up and carries his own bottle, such a
funny sight. They sat in my pew and I think I totally ignored the pastor
to admire these young parents who have been to hell and back since their
child's birth. He's had multiple surgeries and still wears oxygen tubes
and a tank. He really seemed to like the bright colors in the quilt.
The congregation was so happy to finally meet baby Anthony.

I've read that babies like bright colors, its their mamas that like pastels.
Was about to finish a bright quilt for a young woman who used to live next
door to me when her sister told me the baby is a girl. So I'm making
another in shades of pink, florals, and green. I may give her a choice.

What a great story. I'm glad he liked his quilt.
