My friend came over today and for two hours the two of us worked on
cleaning/organizing my sewing room; so that I am not losing things
under other unrelated things and the floor is now exposed and vacuumed.
I still have a dresser top to work on and magazines to go through and
cull. She took my huge basket of scraps to go through. She picks out
what she or her GD might want and gives the rest to charity. My
husband doesn't understand why I can give away so much fabric and then
buy more. I wish he hadn't witnessed that.

Also we are going on a two week driving trip soon and I am hoping to
get to "Road to Calif." for the second time. I want to take my latest
project and my featherweight. I took the SM in today to get tuned-up
and the tech wasn't positive he will have it ready by the time we
leave.
Waaahh! I guess I will have to take a different SM then. I have two
computerized Vikings and my dd has an older model she could let me
borrow.

Tee Hee! I also had to do this as DH decided it was about time he painted
in there. OMG! I did not realise just how much I've managed to accumulate.
For instance I was saving flannel FQs for a flannel raggy quilt - I now have
more than enough (YAY!) so that will be my next project. Then I want to do
a whole mess of quilts for Ronnie McDonnie house who have been a bit
neglected over the last year.

Yup that's my plan. Oh, and I managed to (sniffle sniffle) part with about
4 grocery bags of fabric scrappy bits and other bigger bits and some
horribly shocking poly bat (where did that come from???) to take into the
art teacher at school. And I also parted with a whole mess of magazines and
some old books for her too.

I am trying to do mine, bit by bit. However, I now seem to have more
"useful boxes" and bags to store things in than I have things to store!
As well as a stash habit (which I am keeping fairly under control at
the moment) Staples is my drug of choice. I just love all those
plastic stacking boxes and all those different pens and pencils.

I bought another lot yesterday. Wonder what I will decide I can lose
in them this time? Yes, that's the problem. I have a visual memory.
So I remember where things WERE, and when I have put them all in the
boxes, I forget where they WENT.

Back to Staples for some ... LABELS!

The biggest problem I have when I straighten up/reorganize is that I
remember where things used to be, but don't always remember the new "more
logical" place that I have found. Maybe I need to make a diagram:)

I have the very same problem! I remember what pile it was in....but not
what cabinet, drawer, etc. And being neat doesn't always take care of the
mess! I can be very efficient in putting things away very nicely, then turn
around and still have a pile needing a place to be put away! I can get more
put away when I "cram"!!!
