I pulled out a dresden plate ufo that needs finished. I have the blocks
all together in a layout that looks similar to this:
http://softexpressions.com/software/pat/mm.php#dre Bottom corners only have blocks squared not on point like the photo
above. I remember why I put the whole thing away unfinished years ago.
The center section has 'grown' about an inch wider both ways than the
ends. I am probably not going to tear it apart and redo it. I am
wondering if I were to do some trapunto or just heavy quilting in the
inside border would it come up enough to look decent? I don't have
borders on it yet. It looks like I was going to work to the outer edge
dimension for those. There are 2 3" borders and then a sort of ice cream
cone border on the very outer edge. This is a recreation of an old
30's quilt that is literally falling apart. It was found on the floor
of a garage in a dirty heap of a sad state.
Should I just put the UFO back in the closet or just keep plugging
away and work with it as is?

ah ha, so it is the on point one i guess.
if there is a centre square in yours, can you redo those seams to take up some
of the excess?
or would that throw the rest into a sideways sludge.
its a real pretty design anyhow.
what colours are your blocks?

Yep, that is it Jeanne. That would throw off the rest of the mess. It
is in blue done on white in 30's reproduction prints. It looks good
other than that darned stretch that happened. I guess I just wasn't
careful enough when I put it together.

ok, what if you added some sashing between centre and smaller blocks, use that
opportunity to take up some of the slack?
the colours sound divine. who doesnt love blues on white. :)
tho not a big fan myself of the repros, i do appreciate the look.
