I went to a fiber arts festival a couple of weekends back, and got to
see live silkworms doing their thing. The demonstrator was describing
how the entire cocoon is spun from a single strand, and that part of
the art is unweaving that cocoon with the single strand intact to be
processed further into silk. I forget the rest; I was on information
overload, and I'm sure it's all online someplace. Neat stuff.
