Good morning all!

Well, I returned Monday night from a weekend of babysitting my 11 month old
granddaughter. What a great chance to bond with her! She was so good. They
live a 6 hour drive away so I don't get to see her often.
I took my sewing machine, a stack of fabric, cutting paraphernalia, iron and
small ironing board. This kid sleeps lots so I thought I'd get a bunch of
quilty stuff done and I did get some accomplished. I cut strips and squares
from lots of the scraps that I had taken & I cut & sewed 1/2 square triangle
squares that are the planned part of the next scrappy quilt.
On the way home I had a chance to stop at a quilt shop that I've known about
for several years but usually when I pass thru that town it is a Sunday or
later in the evening. This time I got there about 20 minutes before they
closed. Wow! lots of inspiration! I only bought a quilting stencil and some
hand cream. I REALLY don't need more fabric and have decided that I'm not
buying anymore for the stash, I'm only allowing myself to buy for a specific
need. (We'll see how long that lasts, LOL)
Since I got home I've been cutting a sewing strips for the next scrappy.
Last evening DH was working late and will be for the next 2 nights, so I
rearranged the living room to make space to lay out my orange crush mystery
scrappy. I'm determined to get this one quilted so I can use it on my bed.
I'm using Quilters Dream Wool batting, never tried it before but it feels
lovely! This one I'm going to try quilting in sections and then putting
them together. Wish me luck!
Well, off to spray weeds before the wind picks up. Then a little housework,
and I can get back to putting my quilt together.
Hope you are all having a great weekend. It's a long weekend for us in
Canada! (big grin)

Hi Marilyn,

Wow, what a treat--bonding with your grand-daughter and quilting!

I've done what you are intending to do with your Orange Crush quilt--quilted
in sections and then put the quilt together. It works just fine. I did it
with a king-sized quilt that has tailored corners.
http://entertainment.webshots.com/photo/2310655260075871020wkXhUx I just
made sure to make the backing extra big so I'd have plenty to turn under and
stitch down on the back.

So I'll wish you luck, but I don't think you'll need it. :-)
