I've had good results using rayon in both, though it did have a tendancy
to smell if I went too fast!

Oftentimes I think the "rules" are passed on from generation to
generation, usually unquestioned. I remember hearing that you should
use cotton thread with cotton quilts, because...? The thread man on
TQS nixed that notion, saying that non cotton threads, esp in the
bobbin, are great because the lint isn't a big deal with non cottons.

Well I am too, because I've used rayon in the bobbin on occassion. As far as
I know, none of my quilts have fallen apart yet.
