Yep, that's just exactly how I darn them. ;) Actually, they make great
dust rags once they are too holey to wear anymore. I have a stash of them
under the kitchen sink. With ratty bath towels too. ;)

I must confess I used to actually turn DH's tube sox inside
out and serge off the holes-in-the-toes (upcurved
big-toe-nails caused havoc), so he could continue to wear
them for a bit longer. But "darn" heels??? NOPE! ;-> I
use his old cotton T-shirts for dust rags, lint free and
ultra soft.
