... since I've been here last time. Kate is playing with corsets and sends
us absolutely Worthy links, Fran and Joanne gave me a hint for a website
that discourages my endeavours to make a couple of 'jumpers' as they sell
them in really pretty in the US, another OT thread is drifting into topic
again, and I have no doubt that tons of spam have accumulated.

On the other hand, DD and I went to live in the place at my parents' because
we got the new heating and I feared our house to turn cold as a fridge. A
needless worry, we had a couple of days with 20° C outside and the house
didn't get really cold all the time, partly because of the wonderful
insulation DH got up in 2008 when business was rather slack. However, I
found the time to finish the dress, yes, THE DRESS, that is, I attached the
lining to the zip and the sleeve lining. Now it'll have to hang for another
week before I can pin and sew the hem.

Kate, I haven't ordered the curtain weights yet because I was waiting for
your reply on the ironing equipment. However, if you can't find the time to
reply I'll order only the weights and will pay the nasty shipping cost for
just 10 little weights.

Another problem has cropped up, too. Remember that bit of the zip near the
neckline where you said I might have to attach a little hook? It turned out
that it was the seam line of dress/lining on the left half of the back
neckline wasn't like the other half. I tried to correct this little problem
by stitching it down to the zip but now it seems that, at least on the
clothes hanger, the whole side of the neckline is distorted. I'm not sure
what to do, didn't have time try the dress on that day, and what will
pressing do for the whole thing? I've made up my mind that I'll give the
entire dress away for a final pressing because I just can't seem to get it
right; either the creases don't go away or the seam allowance shows because
I pressed the iron down too hard. Sorry, I was just too far gone with lack
of sleep to remember everything you taught me about pressing.

Also, it would be really great if you could give me your instructions for
the jacket since time seems to melt away at an alarming rate. What puzzles
me here most is how we can attach the inlay to the sleeves without making it
show but fixing it safely nonetheless. After all the lining is to be fixed
with just slipstitch to the outer fabric.

Well, of course you have loads of stuff to do and want time to play, too.
But I'd be really grateful if you would help me here. Off to bed now,
tomorrow is another fine day in mommy-and-toddler-land and I need my beauty
(ha-ha) sleep. ;-)

U.

I'll pop some in the post along with the sleeve stuff, which I should
have got ready this past week, but several other things (including a
migraine) got in my way. I'll see if I can get it to you by the end of
the week. I'll post you pix before the 'kit' arrives anyway. Priority
One on tomorrows list, alsong with the little flowery dress and another
postal job!

Try gently unpicking that side of the neckline for a few inches and
restitching it to match... Do it by hand with little running stitches
if you can't face trying to machine it. Do this BEFORE pressing again...

Good move. I end to do this with jackets and copats.
show/hide quoted text

You'll see. :)
show/hide quoted text

Nah - more time to ache than play! Swim, yes, but that's about it for
the next few days.

show/hide quoted text

So does she! Had any more water sports? :D

Thank you, that's more than I hoped for. Still, I really want to get decent
ironing equipment while there's still money in my bank account and so, in
the long run, I'd be very grateful for your comments on what they have in
that shop. As you can see from the 'Bums' thread, I started with the steam
generator already. ;-)

I'll do that tomorrow when I'm in Lüdo for discussing the buffet with the
guy from the hotel. Guess what, we'll be his last job, he's about to quit
and go back to Spain. Don't ask me why he came from there in the first
place, neither his looks nor his name were Spanish. I only hope that we'll
get decent stuff; perhaps he won't care and serve nasty stuff.
Unfortunately, it's too late now to change location. We must hope for the
best. Anyway, as for the unpicking, I had feared that already, but I think
it should do the trick. I'll let you know.

What are copats? Or is that a typo and it's coats? (Not taking the mickey,
serious question of the non-native speaker.) Still, a section on ironing on
your website might be a good idea, you explained a lot without showing, so I
know it can be done with just words. ;-)

I'll see? But that's not 'Wait and See'! ;-)

Oh dear, the weak flesh. Sorry to hear, get better soon! (Mine is behaving
fairly well these days, actually; don't know why.)

After staying with DSIL on Saturday night, she put up quite a struggle
against sleep on Sunday (boiled-goblin mode). Yesterday she went to bed like
the cherub she normally is. Well, we all need some spoiling once in a while,
so I won't nag. As for floodings - I tend to lock the bathroom in that flat
now, a knife does the job quick and easy (remember, there's that strange
lock on that door). She takes it with admirable equanimity. But there's
loads of other things to destroy. ;-)

Coats! Definitely coats! Dunno where that extra P came from...

My nefew went to London for a concert the other day: bought himselx a T
shirt that says I Put The 'Sex' In Dyslexia! I'm thinking I need one
like that...
show/hide quoted text

No. Wait and See id pink jelly with pink cake and pink icecream -
served only at little gir's birthday parties!

Which reminds me: it is age 2 you want Christina's frock made, isn't it?
Or shall I do it age 3 just to be on the safe side? Want to get that
in the post as well!
show/hide quoted text

Oh good! Knees are playing up sumething rotten here. I'm going to
explore a water retention diet when I get breathing space!
show/hide quoted text

Oh good! We wouldn't want her getting bored, after all. ;)

Nah, that's not dyslexia with you, that's just an ordinary typo. But the
shirt sounds good. ;-)

Well, Christine's oore of the stout and not of the slender kind (not fat
though, thanks whoever). She's 87 cm tall now and measures about 53 cm
around her chest. her arms are about 25 cm long from shoulder point to
wrist. If you'd make the dress big enough for next year and wtih enough seam
allowance to let it out the year after year, it would be great. That is, if
that's not too much trouble. I think it would be a shame to make such an
effort for just one occasion or one winter. Thank you again, I really
appreciate what you're doing for us.

Gotta go, she getting restless...

U.
