I had a fitting today for the very tall bridesmaid who's having the
bronze dress... Remember I ordered the pattern from that very swish
company in Oz? Well, because this lass is so tall, I did have to add
quite a bit of length to the pattern. But other than that, I cut it out
just as it came...

...and...

...it fits...

PERFECTLY!

YAY! YAY!

We need to reduce the width of the skirt at the back, and the length of
the train, but this is a style alteration rather than a fitting problem. :)

I'm dead chuffed, and can only say that all concerned (bride,
bridesmaid, AND dressmaker) are impressed with the look and quality of
this toile and pattern. :)

Coo! Haven't had one this easy to fit in YEARS! ;) And they like the
idea of the project going up on the web site, so you will all get to see
this as a blow-by-blow dress diary. :)

Now I just need to find a bronze concealed zip and a supplier of bronze
silk YLI thread...

Hehehehehehe... Another excuse to buy nice things! :)

Congratulations, Kate! I love it when a patterns fits
out-of-the-envelope.

Have you a site like:
http://www.zipperstop.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/ykkconcealedzips.htm
on your side of the ocean? I have used zipperstop.com, and Jeff is
very helpful if you have a special need. He made custom-length
separating zippers for the purple attendants' dresses for me a couple
of years ago.

I have a supplier, but that's also very useful to know! :) Thanks. :) :)

Wow, Kate! Sounds great! I felt the same way when I zipped my sister
up in her wedding gown mockup and it fit perfectly. *such* a great
feeling!

If you can't find a bronze zipper, you can always rely on the old trick
of finding a zipper that's as close as possible in color matching and
painting the zipper pull with nail polish. We used to do that in a
pinch.

One *does* tend to feel a tad smug - but I can't take all the credit:
the pattern was beautifully drafted and one of the best I've ever used.
Mind you, at £45, so it should be!

I shouldn't need to: anything dark brown will do, as the pull will be
hidden in her armpit. Anyone getting THAT close won't be interested in
the zip pull! :0
