Hi all,
Following my ongoing interest in mass customization (http://
amitaibu.com/mtm ,
http://www.fashion-incubator.com/mt/archives/cad_collar_drafting_videos.html),
and after exhibiting my concepts and designs in Japan I've decided to
write a research about this issue. The title of the work is "Old
Habits & New Technologies in The Home Sewing Industry".

The work deals with different MTM (Made-To-Measure) technologies that
follow the mass-customization concept. In the work I will try to
figure if people are really ready to accept those new technologies. It
is often said that there is a difference between what people are
asking for and what they actually want.

So, are home sewers ready for customized patterns? Is this indeed an
important thing for them? What other elements are needed by the
community?

I have published a short version of the survey, that should take about
3-5 min to answer:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=CqmmVHzIzqpybxsM_2fQhA1w_3d_3d.

People with more interest in the issue are encouraged to answer the
survey (about 10-15 min to answer):
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=QR0rnkcI4Woyaj0HXd2_2b9Q_3d_3d

The goal is over 100 participants by the beginning of August 2008. The
work will be ready by January 2009.
