Hi Samantha,
Thanks for the reply.
My Janome was AUD 200 2 years ago, the "economy" model, that does not do
much apart from straight and zigzag.
The Husqvarna Emerald 183 is quoted as AUD 800, with quilting, letters,
computerised etc...the whole (scary) she bang.
In the meantime, I have decided to use the money to get a sewing cabinet
instead, since space is at a premium in our home, and I have young (2
years and 8 mths) children underfoot. So a cabinet that stores my stuff
safely and is childproof, and can fold away in the living room when not in
use seems a better choice at the moment.
I laid out and cut a pattern for a dress last night on the floor and after
an hour, my back was aching! Our dining table is not big enough, and we
have no other large tables...
So I figure, I shall make do with my Janome, and see how I go, and then
think about upgrading when I feel the need. :-) That seems like the
sensible thing to do, since for a hobby, this is costing a lot, and we
need to budget it in...
