Not at all, I did it deliberately.

And I like OE. It works for me.

It's common - moreso in USA than UK.

I wouldn't use it, it reminds me of epitaphs - "Dearly Beloved ... " It
shouldn't need to be said. What's more, why say 'BEloved'? 'Loved is more
than sufficient.

I've very occasionally referred to 'd.i.l.' but only after using 'daughter
in law' for the first reference. That's the convention here for
abbreviations, use the full term first then everyone can work out the
abbreviation.
