Back when my DM was alive and visited us twice yearly she always helped
me catch up on such, asking 'What can I do while you are doing (fill in
chores)?'
And once a year we shopped together for a pattern and fabric for a dress for
her,
and made it together during her visit. Those dresses were special to her
(and me).
