Dear folks,

I'll keep myself short in this post, but the whole thing was a success.
Bride and groom were much admired for their looks, especially the bride. The
dress was great to wear, and since we had a lovely sunshiny day, I didn't
need anything else to wear over the jacket on my way to and from church. My
DSIL gave me a lovley wedding bouquet of various greens and roses that are
white with a dark pink rim on their petals. I didn't throw it, though, for
once it would have been too precious, and then those not married were either
widowed and close to 80 (from both sides) or waaay too young to thing of
marriage. However, I had had the hem of the dress pinned a tad too long, so
I had to hold it whenever I wanted to take a step in any direction. I'll
shorten it, that's for sure, although I don't konw how short. ;-)

The service was good, too, very nice with old songs I had chosen, and the
minister made it a very personal thing, since she'd known me from my
earliest age (actually she was the one who had baptised me). Nobody got
bored since it took us only about 45 minutes. However, all that had to be
said and all I had wanted to express was said and expressed. Christine was
over the top when the big organ started to play and ventured to sing along,
although, as far as I could catch it from my place with my back to the
crowd, she chose to sing a song about a vocal competition between a donkey
and a cuckoo in her own version.

After the sevice we had a couple of pictures taken in the last light of day,
and then we marched to the hotel. Most folks seated themselves very soon and
took their champagne with them. The little ones were quite active and
hungry, and so I gave everybody leave to dig in as soon as the first
platters were placed. All in all, we didn't stand much on ceremony and so
everybody, including me, enjoyded themselves. The last guest left at about
two in the morning, and we retired to our room in the hotel where DD was
sleeping soundly. That is, until we got to bed at last. Then she started
screaming and it took us until half ppast two to get her back to sleep.
While dropping off, I could hear her telling stories to herself.

Nevertheless, she was up at 7 a.m. and we with her. Edgar had had a little
too much beer, so he emitted some horrible moans and the smell of a pub the
morning after. We had an appointment for breakfast with some relatives at my
parents for 9 a.m. and before that we had packed most of our stuff, though
we left it in the room. After breakfast, we collected everything, icluding
leftovers from the buffet. The wedding cake had been demolished entirely,
and most other things had been diminished nicely, but still we have so much
left that we needn't go shopping for food for the next three or four days.
It was all very nice and harmonic, and the only fly in the ointment of
familiar harmony was one friend of Edgar's who has never gotten beyond the
coarsest of manners. The entire story why he was invited is a longer one and
may or may not be told another time. However, he spent most of the time
outside at the smokers' table and bothered me only for the last 30 minutes
of the evening with his crude jokes. Hoewever, I was uniformly graceful and
charming, and did my best to be the main act. Fortunately, nobody wanted
much entertaining from me, they had all kinds of talks among eachother and
even entertained me with a juggling act and songs...

Very nice, but I wouldn't do it again for life itself. As for the cost -
well, tips were a bit more than I had expected, but the main thing was all
right. Since you all are yearning for pics, I better tell you right away
that it might take some time since Edgar has to download them from the
camera first. As you can imagine, we didn't get enough sleep and a noontime
nep didn't succeed as well as planned, either. So, although the post is far
longer than I had planned it, I'll stop here. Thank you all for your good
wishes for our wedded life.

U.

Well, I have to admit that the ranks of those we (DH and I) call and
consider friends have cleared a lot through the years. And we kept it fairly
small; the invoice from the hotel says that we were 53, all in all, so that
minimizes chances for unpleasant specimen. Another point may have been that
we didn't serve hard stuff; if they wanted it, they had to buy it for
themselves. Still, we'll never know what feuds may spring in future from
that evening, so far undiscovered by the general public. ;-)

Have it just clear your toecaps. That way you can dance in it! :)

I'm glad it was a success.

Giggle. I'm glad she showed her appreciation.

Over stimulated. Won't do her any lasting harm.

The best way to go. I just wish we could have been there in body as
well as spirit.

You are more than welcome. Now rest up and relax - it's over! :) And
you will have some fun memories to take with you down the years.
