Store-bought baseball pants and the uniforms provided by our schools to
their teams are universally 100% polyester double knit. For reference:

They do need to stretch, and because they are traditionally light
colored or even white, they need to be able to stand up to repeated
laundering.
I believe both JoAnn's and Hancock's carry the appropriate fabric in an
assortment of colors. If you're tempted to experiment with alternative
fabrics and fiber contents I suggest watching the "Seinfeld" episode
where George outfits his baseball team in cool, comfortable, breatheable
cotton.
