Phil,
Try www.fabric.com I've shopped with them for years and always been very
happy with the quality and the service. I would suggest you call them, they
have toll free number on the site. Tell them what you are looking for and
they may be able to help you. (they also have some golfers on staff so they
might know what you are looking for!)
If you can't find anything, call your tailor back. When I tell my clients
that they need to provide the materials for a project, I don't leave them
hanging in the wind to source it. The tailor may know of a source for the
fabric, and may have only meant for you to pay for it up front. S/He may
even be willing to go shopping with you. I tell my clients that they must
provide materials so that I don't lay out money for fabric and then have the
client change their minds. Once folks have a monetary investment in the
project, they stick. ;)
Good luck! You certainly did come to the right place to ask your question.
Someone here will know where you can find your fabric. :)
