But fun! I've been in school, playing with the kids today. The bags
look great - I must get some photos! All sorts of mad imagination has
gone into them, like rabbit shaped windows! :)

I've also got some customer stuff to do - a couple of 'emergency'
waistcoats for a wedding. Cut out and ready to sew, almost... think
I'll do them on the treadle, just for fun! It's nice to have time to
play when you're working! :D They need to be done by Friday!

Kate, I figured you'd be the one to ask....what is the "undersleeve"
for a jacket sleeve?? I haven't gotten to the jacket yet, so I have
read all the instructions, but in looking at the pattern pieces, it
seems that the main sleeve piece is just that..a typical sleeve, with
no need for additional material.

I am working under the assumption that the sleeve and undersleeve go
together to make the entire jacket sleeve, is that correct?? yeah
yeah, I know, just drag out the pattern and read it, but the last time
I made a jacket, it didn't make sense to me either. Thanks bunches!!

Yes, you have two pieces: top sleeve and under sleeve. Go look in
hubby's closet, at a suit jacket. You'll see that the sleeve is cut
with one part that wraps round the outer part of the arm, and one
narrower part that goes from armpit to cuff... The armpit to cuff bit
is the under sleeve. Tailored jackets (and blokes suits) have the
sleeves cut in two parts for a better fit: if you look at the suit
hanging, the sleeve curves the same way the arm bends. It's standard in
men's tailoring, and used in better classes of women's tailored jackets
and coats.

Thank you much! This is for the coat/jacket that will be worn with the
Easter dress...if I ever get motivated to working on them!!! Dress is
cut and pinned, have to see if I need to line it, then on to the jacket

Waistcoat one (child) almost finished:
Welt pockets
seams all complete
back belt on

Needs:
Buckles on back
lining and labels sewn down the side seams
buttonholes and buttons

Done as planned on the treadle!

Waistcoat two (adult)
Welt pockets complete
outer and lining sewn together
lining sewn round front/neck seam
armholes pinned

This one will take an hour to finish to the same sate as the little one.
Then the two will probably take an hour and a half to complete,
including buttonholes. The kid's one is dark red/black shot silk dupion
with gold embroidery, the adult one is a dark red/navy shot twill with a
navy and light blue dot pattern woven in. The silk was originally woven
for making ties. It looks very smart. I shall burn a bit more midnight
oil tomorrow, but tonight I'm done! :)
