Looking in the next-to-latest Threads issue, I noticed
Butterick 4515 in a "making a muslin" article.

On a second look, I still like it. Anyone have any
recent experience with Butterick patterns?

Tips? Snares for the Unwary? Etc.?

On the whole, I quite like Butterick, and have had good results from
their patterns. The bits seem to be reasonably well drafted, with not
too many ill-fitting bits. Just take care with the measuring (buy to
measurements rather than a dress size), and make a muslin/toile if you
will be using expensive or scarce fabric. Particularly measure the
sleeves if you have heavy upper arms, and be aware that all ladies
patterns are designed for a B cup. If you are bigger or smaller, you
may need to make a different size from that suggested by the bust
measurement, and make an adjustment.

I don't have any experience with Butterick patterns since the last one
I used was in the 1980s but I just wanted to say that this suit is
*lovely.* :-)

I like Butterick patterns myself and use them often both for myself and DGD,
who is 7 "going on 27". Vogue is my favorite, and of course Vogue &
Butterick are the same company. Both are easier to alter than the other two
big companies IMHO, although since Butterick bought out McCall's, maybe that
will change.
