Hi,

Could some kind person help me with this one PLEASE???

I have very long curtains that drap over the floor and I don't want to cut
them to length NOR do I wish to sew making holes in material to have to
adjust later. It has soft felt backing.

The reason being if I move house I may need them to be the long length.

How can I avoid this ???

Kind Regards
Jeanette/Jeannie

You might try something like "Stitch Witchery":
http://www.dritz.com/askus/faq/faq_07.php

http://www.denverfabrics.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=FH0005&Category_Code=FH-b&Product_Count=1

But if you cannot apply heat to the curtains, that wouldn't work.

Can you raise the curtain rod height?

If you change the length, even in a semipermanent manner, it is going to
affect how they look if you length them later. You need a pressed-type
bottom hem, and that is going to make a long-term if not permanent mark
on the fabric. If you don't have the pressed-type bottom hem, they are
going to look *really* weird at the shorter length.

Dear Jeanette,

If you look at some of the decorating magazines, you'll see that it is
the "style" to let curtains pool on the floor. If I were you, I'd do
nothing to them.

This is what I was going to suggest. It's very fashionable to have them on
the floor in a nice "pool" as Teri mentioned. Arrange the extra fabric in a
pleasing manner, and enjoy your custom decorative touch :)
