Update on DGD's kilt (the "practice one):

Today, I sewed the hem, basted all the pleats for pressing
(four rows of basting across the width of the back pleats),
hand stitched the hidden pleat, and secured the top-inside
of the inverted box pleat, and basted the
deep-pleats-to-the-apron (for steaming and shaping later).

Took a *really* *deep* *breath* and cut the top of the
pleats Now I've finished the steeking, next is opening the
buttonhole. I can actually see the light at the end of the
tunnel (provided, of course, that's not an oncoming
train...) ;-)

Tomorrow I will start the interlining and lining; sew the
apron facings, and fringe the right apron edge, after that
it's on to the waistband, sewing on the buckles and straps,
other fiddly finishing bits, then the final pressing.

Whew! Haven't counted up the hours yet, but it's many....
I've been trying to take pictures as I go, and I'll get them
online at some point.

This has been a mammoth project and a labour of love: Can't wait to see
pix of your little fairy in her kilt, dancing away! :)

Since this is a "practice" (or toile) kilt, and not the
right colors for competitive dance, I probably will only
have pics of her *wearing* it.

However, when I do the real thing, that's when we get
serious about pics! ;-)

Sometimes I think it's best NOT to count the hours! LOL

I don't want to know.

Congrats on the progress.

:-) I know exactly what you mean. I was just curious, for
my own information. Plus, I'm planning on making another
one, I need to know how many days-weeks-months to mark out.
