DH has three pairs of Dockers that seem to have shrunk in the waist
while hanging in the closet ;).He keeps telling me he can get them on
just can't seem to button the waistband. IF your familiar with dockers
you know that the waist band is all one piece, unlike men's tailored
pants, which have a seam in the center back of the band.I told him that
I could open the band and insert an elastic wedge at the center back.
That solution doesn't make him very happy but it's the only thing I know
to do since I can't find a fabric to make a new band that would match in
color. He also would not be happy with a band that doesn't match. Lets
just say he's picky, picky, picky about this kind of thing. He also
needs to lose a few inches around the waist;). Does anyone have any
other suggestions for the problem.I hate to ditch the pants because they
close to being brand new. I don't think any of the three pairs have been
worn more than 2x each.

Dear Juno,

I have no waist. I'm also short. So when I buy pants, I cut off and
re-hem the bottom, and use the piece cut off the bottom to open the
waistline at the center back and add a piece. I also remove the back
darts. The new, pieced waistband barely shows at all. Do you have an
old pair of Dockers that you could get a piece from?

Thanks for the suggestion Teri. I'll look through his closet and see
what's in there. I know he has a couple of p airs that are in good shape
but probably will never fit him again. I was going to give them to a
charity but maybe charity should begin at home this time.

If he is picky about his looks he probably might as well just go ahead
and lose the weight. If you make them bigger he is a goner.

You could just donate them to the thrift shop and if you check the
place out you will find other nearly new pants some bigger guy has
outgrown. It is amazing how many new pants are donated.

That fat around the middle is the stuff that leads to heart attacks.
Not good, not fun. We've btdt here. YOu should see the waiting room
in the cardiologists office but I hope you don't have to.

He is picky about how he looks and he knows he should lose the weight.
He needs to tone up a bit more than anything. If anything, he's
probably 6-8 pounds heavier.
The big problem is he was a marathon runner until his knee had to be
replaced.
The surgeon said he could run again but he doesn't have his heart in it
any more.
He walks between 6 and 7 miles a day but it's not taking the weight or
inches off.I've been pushing for him to join the gym and work out. We
both can use that. For a man who's 73 he's in great shape. He only weighs
155. Which is great for his height and age. I'd rather let out 1 pair of
pants for now and say that's all I'm going to do, than have him wear
pants that should have been consigned to the trash barrel because they
fit his waist.
