Just finished the third twill skirt for DD, and for a little
variety, I made the last one with a fly front instead of a back
zipper (two and a half hours each on the first two, three and on
the one with the fly front).

And I have another Highland Dance "Lilt" skirt and scarf finished
to deliver to DGD's teacher (third one). I'm getting the dance
outfits down to about 2-1/2 hours start to finish, including
fringing the scarves. I would have let DGD fringe this last one,
but I discovered the cloth, which may be old (from the teacher's
stash?), was 100% cotton, and pulling the threads for the fringe
was *not* fun. Every crosswise thread broke the minute I started
pulling them, very frustrating. So she'll get to work on the
*next* one.

Tomorrow, I'm going to start on the silk pajamas to wear on my
up-coming vacation at the coast.

And this week I salvaged a favorite RTW denim shirt which is
nicely embroidered with wildflowers. I stupidly splashed bleach
on it, and I have been trying for a couple of years to think of
some way to "fix" it. Well, duh moment! I digitized a tiny lady
bug, and a 1" dragonfly, then I purchased several
hummingbird-with-flowers embroidery designs:
http://www.emblibrary.com/EL/PackContents.aspx?CS_ProductID=X1349&CS_Catalog=EmblibraryNAYYI
placed a couple of hummingbirds strategically over the largestbleach spots, and
the dragonflies and lady bugs over small spots, then added a few bugs and birds
on the back and sleeves to makeit look like it was "intended to be that way".
Did I mention Ilove the embroidery machine? ;-)Beverly

I'm doing something similar with an old denim shirt of Harri's and
turning it into a cropped jacket. I LOVE my Babylock Embellisher
machine and happily machine felt flowers onto all kinds of things!!! I
cut-out the flowers and such from scrap fabric while watching tv. It's
kind of soothing and reminds me of playing with paperdolls when I was
little. :-)
