When I serge elastic to bodysuit necklines, armholes and leg openings,
every time I let go of the elastic (to line up the fabric, remove pins,
etc.) the threads all bunch together. Underneath the bunching, on the
bottom side of the fabric, I get little loops of thread. Is this
normal, or am I doing something wrong? I don't like the look of it,
especially since I am selling these suits to the kids at the local
gymnastics club. The elastic stays on and all, but the loopy threads
look messy. I've tried loosening the tension, tightening the tension,
but there's been no change. Any suggestions?

What kind of needles are you using? I find that stretch needles are
best for this application, and always use stretch or ball point needles
in the serger on knits and elastic, and especially where
Lycra/Spandex/elastane is involved. Also, use bulk poly or woolly nylon
in the loopers.
