I'm looking for an appropriate fabric to make for a jacket to be used
for horsemanship classes at horse shows. It will be an unlined jacket
that should have a little stretch to it. Sugguestions would be
appreciated.

cheryl..

welcome to my world of frustrations <g>. the best thing is to just go
and wonder through fabric stores. I'm still in search of the perfect
fabric! black stretch gabardine is plentiful, other colors not so
much.

are you using the suitability patterns?

Betsey:
There is only ONE fabric store within my area and I have already
been there...nothing that I want. I do not use Suitability...in my
experience their sizing is rather bizarre (lol). I use my own pattern
that I have developed over the years...I just alter it to accommodate
the project I am working on. I'm looking at various websites, and
will be ordering swatches where they are available. Do know of any
websites that have the stretch gabardine, or maybe twill?

cheryl-
fabric.com is a good one
also if you go to the suitability website, they do have links to
several fabric online stores...which will swatch for you.

i'm trying one of their patterns for the first time. i'm a chunk, so
it could get dicey <g>

What sort of horse shows?

If it's equestrian, then it really should be wool and it should be lined.
