Yesterday I:
Found a bit of fabric that had gone AWOL! How one can lose a 5.5m
length of 60" wide nay linen mix fabric is not something I can explain,
but there you go, it's back now!
Discovered several lengths of fabric I do not recall buying! One is a
5.5m length of taupe poly cotton twill weave trouser fabric. Lovely
colour (though not one I tend to wear - to close to fawn for me as a
general rule), lovely hand, no idea when or where I got it, but I
suspect a croft Mill bargain!
Came across a similar length of wool mix Venetian cloth in a full, rich
black. Same story...
Found a largish chunk of black sheeting I obviously bought for and used
part in a costume... Again, I have no recollection of buying it, but I
used it!
I cut out 2 pairs if Simon Trousers for my MS victim customer, and the
forepart and underskirt of my Simplicity Shakespeare In Love gown. This
will have the forepart and bodice and sleeves cut from a dark red and
gold sari I bought for £8 the other week, and the underskirt is the
black sheeting. The over skirt will probably be cut from a nice piece
of poly cotton twill trouser fabric I found (No, I don't remember buying
this bit either, but it must have been cheap!) in the same box as the
Venetian cloth. I shall use the borders off the sari as guards down the
skirt.
I also came to the conclusion that I need to get the stash out and
reorganise it, relabel and replace some of the boxes with sturdier ones
(the contents got mixed when some of the boxes collapsed and got
squished!). As I need to clear half the loft for the plumbers to do the
heating, it might be a good opportunity to do that and get a few
floorboards down in the loft so I and all the stuff are not teetering on
the rafters!
Today I intend to sew the underskirt and both of Simon's pairs of
trousers. But I must clean and oil the sewing machines first... :)

Kate, I wonder if this was part of your quest to find school trouser
fabric for James? I seem to recall quite a treasure hunt on your part at
one time.

Hehehe! I found that, too! I might make shorts for James for school,
or donate it to the ongoing Simon's Trousers campaign - he needs several
new pairs a year as the care assistants where he gets respite care are
useless at washing them!

Isn't it fun when you find something! yesterday, I found my yellow snap
applier, and even though it only cost $1 I was happy not to have to replace
it! I just used it a couple days ago then it disapeared, then I found it
outside in the snow of all places........darn kids lol.
Since you are going through the stash you can send some my way! (I accept
silk *hint hint*) I just used up almost everything I have for cloth
diapers for my baby and maternity clothes for my friend (was reimbursed for
the fabric though). So now I am down to only a piece of woven
somethingerother with autumn leaves on it. It will make a nice table cloth
this fall. can you believe I have nothing left? this must be fixed! I
can't wait!
Did you say you have to balance on beams in your loft? Its a good thing you
are so skinny! but hopefully there's no drafts or you could be blown away!
Hope you have a good day with your organizing!

At 164 lbs and only 5'4" tall, I'm hardly skinny! But there is more of
a danger these days that if I slip, I'll end up in the bath rather than
wedged half way through the ceiling!
