DH has to have a new pacemaker tomorrow. His old one is ten years old
and came with a seven-year guarantee, so the cardio has been watching it
very closely. He's been feeling decidedly "under the weather" so went
in Monday, and the cardio tested it again and said "Uh, oh. It's time."
They really didn't want to do it until he has been off the blood
thinners for three days, so we go in Friday 6 a.m. to have it done, and
they tell me I'll be bringing him home by noon! Normally, they might
have kept him overnight for monitoring, but right now the hospital we
use is the only one open in the city since the storm and is thus
terribly overcrowded. Naturally, I have been watching him like a hawk
since Monday.

Fingers are crossed! I always think of this as a major op, but it's
been reduced to day-care for most folk! :)
