I washed the calico for the toiles for my wedding outfits the other
week, but I couldn't get my head round ironing it all. Now I know why -
the damned stuff is too heavy! Help!

But I just filled up the tank on the iron, cranked the heat and the
steam pressure, and away I went. It's taken me almost an hour, as there
were six metres of it, and it's 90" wide. I had it folded down the
middle, and ironed up one side, down the other, and then opened it out
and pressed out the crease... Then it all had to be folded up again
before it got too crumpled to use!

Now I'm ready to cut and alter a gown pattern, two jacket patterns, and
two dress patterns...

My elbows hurt! And my wrists... And most of my fingers... And I'm
shaking. I think I'll leave the cutting for a while and order the
fabrics I still need!

I read that as 'Emergency Unit' and thought How appropriate!
Painkillers will be taken: after an emergency shopping day to cheer up a
friend yesterday, today will be a good sewing day! or, at least, a good
cutting day! I want to cut tout that Big Dress toile and those for a
couple of jackets. Then I need to see how much more fabric to order for
the next set of toiles. :)

James is putting away the Lego he played with all over my cutting area
yesterday - I cleared off the fabric and pattern for him, so he had
somewhere other than the living room floor! He was compensated for
looking after dad for a day with a Lush Black Pearl bath ballistic, and
I also have some of their Easter goodies for him, for a chocolate-free
treat! :)

After handling something so big and heavy I think it's time your fingers got
a work around something small and light - maybe a glass of wine? You've
earned it... Enjoy!
