Does anyone know anything about this overlocker?
There's one on e-bay and I wondered if it was worth bidding for and
how much to go up to.
Thanks

That model is 7+ years old... It's the precursor for the 905 and 910: I
bought my 910 in 1998. Don't go over £100. Has the free-arm, which is
useful.

How long do they live?
Will it need a lot of servicing?
Thanks

I use mine a lot: it has stood up to it pretty well!
The current models (905/910/935) are made by Toyota, and built like a
brick netty! Dunno who made that one, but as it has the free arm, I
suspect Toyota too. I've also owned two Toyota brand
serger/overlockers, and they are both built to the same high standard
and have stood the test of time.
As a professional dressmaker putting lots of work through all my
machines, I'm a bit fanatical about servicing, and mine get done every
year - more often if I think they need it. I'm also rather religious
about cleaning and oiling and giving them new needles. I don't put the
machine away without a good clean, and it gets new needles for every
project, to suit the fabric. My Toyota (bought last June) came used,
with a one year guarantee. It got serviced a couple of weeks ago: the
dealer I bought it from was surprised it came in for a service, but
pleased that I did that when I explained how much use it got in the last
year!
