In amongst the massive batches of apple butter, apple pie, pesto, tomato
sauce, etc. Isn't harvest season great?

So, I don't know if I've mentioned or not that my BFF, seriously, she and
I've been best gal pals since we were 17, is expecting a baby this winter.
To say I'm excited is like saying the surface of the sun is warm. LOL

Her baby shower was last weekend, so I can now put this stuff up. :)

My favorite baby shower gift is a diaper bag with stuff in it. I looked at
one of the high end baby stores, they had diaper bags that were filled with
all the coordinating stuff. The changing pads, bibs, burp pads, etc.
Everything matches the bag. Really neat I thought. Well they are all, of
course, sold separately. I love this gal, and I love this baby already.
But.... 1. None of the bags looked right for her, the prints were either
too babyish or ugly. 2. They were PROUD of them; I was not in the mood to
pay $120 for the whole ensemble. (I know right??? Are they crazy???)

So off I went. Found the fabric at fabric.com. Loved it!! Really looks
like her style. The lining and the flannel aren't a perfect match, but
they look pretty good. Nice compliment I thought, and I wanted the lining
light enough to make it easy to find things inside the bag.

I crocheted the blankies. There is also a hat that matches the blue/purple
blanket. :)

She really really liked the whole thing. Her hubby was amazed that I made it
all. She told him "well of course she did. I know this is shocking to
you. However, I know what Sharon's skill level is. I am THRILLED that she
did this for me, but I am not shocked." LOL She said she loved the bag
and it was definitely something she would happily carry around for a very
long time. :) (I figure it's not over the top baby; so down the line when
they are going to soccer games, or swim meets, or whatever she will still
be able to toss stuff in this bag and use it.)

Great Looking work Sharon!
I love the print you chose, very sophisticated.
The blankets are great. I envy people who crochet. I just can't do it.
Cramps up my hands to much.
Really great job.

Thanks, Juno. Crocheting is so relaxing to me. Especially blankets. Don't
have to think much. Just keep going with the pattern allllll the way
across the blanket, then turn around and do it again. It's so soothing, I
sometimes start to nod off while I'm working. LOL I do have to make sure
I drink a lot of water though. If I don't, my fingers will stiffen up the
next day. (I usually crochet in the evening so I have something to do
while I watch TV.) This yarn was really soft too! 100% cotton and just
really lovely.

So I'll crochet for you. I promise to think of you the next time I'm
working on something. And if you need something done, you just sing
out. ;)

Great job! I love that the print is a lovely grown-up
"NOT-A-BABY" print, and she'll certainly use it for years.
The accessories are a great idea, too.

would be checking...

Thank you, thank you. :)

Actually.....I muttered "what would Beverly say...." over and over while I
was cutting and aligning things. LOL The directions were a little unclear
so the facings on the inside of the zipper didn't match as well as I would
have liked. But they are on the inside. ;) I was really pleased with
how well the outside pockets matched with the bag itself. It matched at
least as well as a RTW bag. lol

Thanks. :)
