Good point, Ron. When I got my Singer XL-6000 and my fancy Singer
serger, *all* the feet were included. That's not the case with Bernina,
I don't think. The Bernina feet are very expensive, too. I bought a
house once for $10K. So, the price really got me. Of course, that
house is now worth nearly $1M, but I haven't owned it for about 40
years. ;-)

I suspect that your "average" person doesn't buy the newest and most up to
date model. Only those with a lot of money (or a lot of debt!) are buying
machines at $10K. I have a Janome 9700 that I bought 3 years ago. I
suspect it was originally released in 2002 or 2003. It was 3 models behind
the "newest of the new at that time, the janome 11000. It does everything
thtat the 11000 does a few less fancy features, but it works for me and was
only $1600.

Merciful Heavens! I have two sewing machines, both completely
mechanical. The old one is 30, the "new" one is about ten years old.
Recently I had a little problem with it, but our wonderfuul Ron told me
how to correct it.

For $12,000 I could have my clothes made for me by a local dressmaker
for several years into the future, and I prefer to embroider with a
needle in my hand.

I wonder if that's the one that they use on Fons & Porter's TV show? That
thing is HUGE!

You wouldn't be carting it to a workshop, that's for sure.
