You're not alone. I have a single bed fitted sheet which is made from very
heavy cotton, it was brought from my mother's house when she died last year.
It's recently been pressed into service here since a grand daughter came to
live with us temporarily. When I ironed the sheet yesterday I noticed that
it was very thin in the middle and there were a few holes and remembered
that I'd intended repairing it.
But how? A patch would be the obvious way but seams might interfere with the
body, I can't bear lying on a seam. Being fitted I can't do a sides to
middle repair as we always did/do on flat sheets.
And yet I can't bear to throw out the sheet ...
On your personal problem - can't you get hip replacements? I do sympathise
with you, years ago I used to sob in bed because I was in so much pain in my
hips. Eventually it stopped. Spouse was the same until he had a hip
replacement, it transformed his waking hours and ensured good sleep.
