It's snowing in the Willamette Valley (Oregon, U.S.A.),
we're having a White Christmas! Four inches of accumulation
since Sunday, and it's snowing hard right now.

I just started cutting out a robe, using Simplicity 5877
http://tinyurl.com/464va8
in Granny-Smith-apple-green (her new favorite color) cotton
French terry for DGD. I'll insert black satin cording in
the front edges, and make the belt of black cotton knit.
I'm trying to decide whether to make side-seam pockets or
patch pockets, I have plenty of fabric for either. I'd like
to embroider her initial on the chest, but she is so
particular in her fashion style ATM, I think I'll wait and
get her input after she opens it.

Yeah, yeah, I know, waaaay late on this one, but I will get
it done.

Beverly, glad I finished up my shopping yesterday, the
forecast is for sleet tonight.

Oh, I think she will reeeeeeeally like it and I'm a big fan of
pockets, too. Her initials will look great, but you're right, let her
decide if she wants them on her lovely robe.

You can keep that sleet and snow right there.

That is a mighty pretty pattern and I'll bet it made up pretty. Is this for
your daughter? I guess I may be breaking into a private conversation but
just wanted to comment. I am in Mississippi and a few days ago we had some
sleet and snow (very briefly) but today it was 75 degrees. No wonder so
many people are sick with colds, sinus problems, and allergies.

Hi Brenda. "DGD" = Darling GrandDaughter in alt.sewing
shorthand. ;-)

This is Usenet, there are no 'private conversations' here.
If we wanted private, we'd take it to e-mail.

I'm in western Oregon, I can hardly wait for the (normal)
rain to return.

I was thinking of digitizing her name in Chinese characters,
she wrote it out for me a couple of years ago when her class
was studying Asian culture. But best to await her decision.
;-}

It's so rare that we have snow for Christmas that it's
really a bit of a treat. But I hope the good old Oregon
rain returns soon, traffic is a nightmare.
