Do you have any ideas on how to store leather hides that would be about
10' x 10' , the storage technique should utilise minimal space.

We currently house them on wooden horses that consume about 3 ' x 8'.

thanks,
regin

Our leather is that size and bigger. I place 2-3 hides on top of one
another and then roll them and tie with a leather thong. These are
then placed on shelves with lots of air circulation in a cedar lined
cupboard for the winter. We sell them all summer and have about 4-500
each winter for the next year. Rolling them prevents creases were the
oils can collect and ruin the hide.

As a follow-up to your answer, how do you remove creases from leather if
they aren't stored rolled-up?
Thanks, JPBill

I don't know. If the hide has been folded long enough for the oils or
tanning solutions to come to the surface along the creases then I
doubt there is any way to remove that mark. Its like the marks from
roller feet on the sewing machine---pretty much permanent.
You can try to hang the hide for a while or find a spot to lay it
flat, and see if that helps, otherwise you have to cut around it or
incorporate into the design. Sorry I have no magic answer.
