I am making some bicycle lycra shorts. Should the most stretch go up and
down, or side to side? I've reviewed the pattern and don't see a
recommendation.

I did some more looking and found my answer on the pattern. It wasn't in
the literature or written instructions, it was on the pattern piece itself.

In the case of this pattern, the bigger stretch goes around my, er,
uh, arse. So stretch goes side to side, not up and down in this
pattern..I've worked with Lycra before, but it's been a while...had to
get my bearings.
