If you live in Michigan and you made a quilt or sewn something this
year........(is that you) I highly encourage you to visit this website
and enter.

www.michiganstatefair.com

I just wanted to let everyone know that it isn't too late to make an
entry in the Michigan State Fair........they extended the deadline -
but you have to get your entry paperwork in the mail TODAY!!
Then, project turn-in dates are Aug 1-3rd.
This is the 100th State Fair in Detroit so special ribbons are being
awarded this year!!!
For more information and to view all the categories in the premium
book .... www.michiganstatefair.com
They did add a whole bunch of new sewing divisions. And...some of
them are not full.
Good luck,
Joy

My daughter is volunteering in the office of the Michigan State Fair
so I got wind that they still have display room for Heirloom Quilts
too! (class 130) ....... Since the fair is celebrating 100 years in
Detroit they have a couple special divisions like this one where the
item doesn't have to be made by you but is an opportunity to display a
piece of heritage.
They also have an Heirloom Sewing category where you can enter and
display an article sewn by a loved one....it will be displayed behind
glass.

Looking over the premium book I just noticed a couple new categories
that cought my eye..........
Only for 2005.....you can win $20 for an Apron (class 440 a,b,c)
and New for 2005 "Before & After" where your creativity and skill are
used to re-use an item like......
class 450. An original garment taken apart completely recut to make
a new outfit.
class 451 Additions added (eg. collar, cuffs, decorative accents
etc.
class 452 Household Linens used in clothing

ps. Is anyone entering their State Fair? The last conversation went
off on 4-H topic and nobody ever mentioned if and what they might be
entering. Over in the canning newsgroup everyone is buzzing with
their hopes and posts of ribbon dreams and winnings. Wonder why it
isn't the same with sewing?

Maybe we are a little more secretive....like to devote the time to
getitng things done as opposed to wishing to win...we just want to do
