Hi All,

Are there any boat owners in the group? I need some "user" information
on the subject of boat sheets. I've been asked to make two sets of
sheets for a "V" berth (sail boat). The customer gave me the only set
she has to use as a sample. The sample was left in the boat by the
former owners and is clearly "homemade". It's a basic retail flat top
sheet cut on a "V" and stitched at the narrow part of the "V" to the
fitted sheet. The fitted sheet has also been cut down to "V" shape.
The sample set has a cord pulled throught a bias tape casing and then
tied to pull the fitted sheet part tight. I'd like to use elastic in
the fitted sheet for the sets I'm making. When I questioned the
customer regarding elastic vs. cording she just told me to do whatever
I want and, as we all know, what I want to do from a sewing point of
view may not be the best solution. Should I stick to the cord or use
elastic? If elastic is OK to use is there a preference? I was
thinking clear elastic would be the best since that seems to hold up
under abuse. I found some that is 3/4" wide.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

ElizW
