I was poking around on the internet this afternoon and found on
www.nbc.com pictures from the Miss USA pagent being aired tonight.
They had a photo gallery of the evening gown competition with at least
2 shots of every contestant wearing her evening gown. All I can say is
"wow" - evening gowns have sure changed from what I remember on the
pagents when I was a kid. Interesting to look through - don't think
I'd let my daughter out of the house wearing any of those gowns
though!

heavens! When I remember some of the slinky evening gowns I had in my
skinny youth, evenings without undies were fairly common... Nothing
like a VPL to spoil the line of bias cut satin. No thongs in the
seventies, either.

They don't leave much to the imagination, do they? I remember a
bathing suit from fifty years ago, that is still the sexiest one I've
ever seen.
It covered her front, it covered her butt, but the sides were open and
laced up. It showed absolutely nothing suggestive, and yet was more
suggestive because of it. These ladies need to take lessons. I
didn't bother to look at all the gowns. By the time I got to 20 I'd
seen enough. I don't watch that or any other pageant. They remind me
of cattle calls.

Curious. I thought they were all quite covered up, and some even a bit
dowdy.
