If it's what I've seen called moleskin, it will look and feel like suede on
the right side. It should have a little bit of stretch crossgrain. And the
wrong side is a slick satiny finish. It does ravel like crazy, serging
usually takes care of that. Be careful of your iron setting because, like
all synthetics, it can scorch if you get the iron too hot. But other than
that, I think it's a very easy fabric to work with. My 2 cents. ;)

The original moleskin was a cotton fabric and was common in the UK for
"roadmenders" trousers and was very, very durable and soft: comfortable
to wear. Most of the "moleskin" I see today is synthetic like Sharon
said, but is not as comfortable. Cotton moleskin clothing looks rumpled
like work clothes; synthetic is more stiff and slightly more "formal"
looking. At least that's my experience. JPBill

Thanks for the info, JPBill. This is exactly as Sharon described and I'd
thought all along it was most likely synthetic.

Thanks Sharon. this a very pretty piece of mauve, that I think will be
enough for a skirt for me and maybe a jumper for the little one. If not a
jumper, then surely a skirt, as well. She said she wants us to have
matching outfits, I told her I'd get something to make her DM, me and her;
she said, "No,just you and me, Gramma." I thought, okay, maybe another
day. 8YOs can have a mind of their own.

Have fun making for you and your little pal. She will be tickled to pieces
