I belong to a club (F.O.E.) which has a costume contest each year during
our Halloween dance. This year I dressed up as an organ grinder's
monkey. Black sweat pants and top, black socks, black gloves, black ski
mask, monkey mask from the Dollar Tree store, red felt bolero trimmed in
gold rick-rack, fez (oleo tub) covered (hot glued) with red felt trimmed
with gold rick-rack and a tassel. I won first prize which was $25.00
credit at the bar. Everyone loved it. I'm 83 years old. Dot in
Tennessee

What a great idea! Congrats on your creativity.
My daughter took second place in the Horse and Rider Costume Contest at
the stable where she rides. She and Shyenne both wore leopard print.
Shy wore a leopard print... slinky? sleezy? Anyway, it's this garment
for horses - stretchy knit, covers the head, neck and front end. Also,
leopard print saddle pad, halter, and chest strap. Daughter wore black
jeans and t-shirt with a leopard print poncho, a leopard print hat and a
leopard print half-mask. They looked very cute together.
The girl who took first place had herself all gothed out in solid black
clothing, and she had draped fake spiderwebs all over her solid black
horse, with plastic spiders stuck in here and there. Cheap, creative
and very original. The horse was an amazingly good sport about the
whole thing and made no attempt to throw himself down and roll.
