I would like to buy a sewing machine for basic sewing but it must be
able to sew through denim. Basically, I would like to make some clothes
for myself-- nothing fancy.
I am hesitant to buy a new model of Singer or Brother because from what
I've read, they are built cheaply and don't sew through denim.
Many say that I am better off buying a working Singer or another brand
that was made before the 1970s since that's about when they stopped
making quality sewing machines (they were losing money, of course.)
However, I am completely lost as to what models are the best for my
needs and whether I really do need an old model for denim. I do not
want to pay more than $150.
PLEASE HELP! Oh, and if you want to sell yours, I'd love to know more
info.

I would suggest that you read up on sewing machine needles. You will need
the correct size to sew demin---usually a size 16.

Where are you? I have an old (very heavy!) New Home that needs a place
to stay - free to good home, buyer collects! But I'm in Kent, UK...

I collect and repair vintage machines, and about 1 or 2 times a month
list a couple on eBay, and I also sell directly. I am located in
Central New York State. You can email me off list if you like.
